Gry Bay got her breakthrough co-starring in "Dr. Monika Lindt - Kinderärztin, Geliebte, Mutter" (1997-1998), a German TV-series which was aired prime time on RTL. The series led to another co-starring role in the film "Hosenflattern" aka. "Where Did You Last See Your Trousers?" (1998), made for cable TV.

1998 was also the year Gry toured England and USA with Kid Creole as a Coconut and solo singer. In the summer of 2001 she toured as the lead singer in the Danish band Crispy/XPY.

Since 1995 Gry has played bit parts in the main theatres of Denmark, and appeared as a singer and dancer in various musicals such as "West Side Story", "Grease", "Guys And Dolls" and "Crazy For You".

In 1999 Gry showed her versatile talent by leaping to the rescue and taking over the lead role as Sally in "Me And My Girl" on Nørrebros Teater without rehearsals for three nights running when the original actress fell ill. The following year, also at Nørrebros Teater, she played the part of Brooke Ashton in Michael Frayn's acclaimed comedy "Noises Off".

In the cinema, Gry Bay played the female lead in the feature film "Slim, Slam, Slum" aka. "Joystick Nation", a hiphop comedy which opened in Danish cinemas August 2002 and went on to become a top seller on video. She also choreographed the movie and wrote lyrics and music for some of the songs. It was her acchievements as a songwriter that led to her starring role in "All About Anna".

Parallel to her acting career, Gry Bay has studied drama and music at the University of Copenhagen, where she wrote a dissertation on the semiotics of body language in theatre. She received her MA degree in drama in 2003.
